A Pink Moon Milk to Inspire Beauty & Calm.
Welcome to The World of Moon Milks..
This is one of my favorite recipes. I’ve had so much fun making this with my daughters in celebration of the New Moon. A creative way to instill awareness for our littles around cycles and seasons, while honoring ourselves in an artful ritual that leaves us feeling creative and calm.
This recipe tastes delicious, has plentiful health benefits, and is easy to make! The herbs I use in this moon milk are nurturing and calming, and this recipe can be used any time of day to ground the nervous system, and is highly suggested in the evenings before bed for sweet dreams.
The three herbs used in this recipe are essential for women’s health, and are wonderful to have on hand in your home for your self-care herbal apothecary…..
Passionflower Leaf- This has long been used to relieve acute stress such as fear and shock as well as deficiencies used in long term stress such as burnout. Wonderful for insomnia and for those over thinkers!
Chamomile Flower- These delicious flowers have an incredible aroma. .A quiet and Gentle Nervine that works to balance the central nervous system and hormones. It can also have a hormone balancing effect on the reproductive system.
Rose Petals - Aside from their delicate beauty, they also have powerful capabilities to stop bleeding, reduce tension, ease headaches, and calm an agitated state of being.
Moon Milk Recipe
Prep time: 5-10 mins - Makes: 1 large serving
Notes: Dragonfruit (pitaya) powder offers the best soft pink color. Beet and hibiscus are both naturally a deeper, richer red so using them to color this drink results in a reddish-pink color. I get my beet and hibiscus powder from Mountain Rose and my dragon fruit powder from Suncore.
Ingredients
1 tsp loose chamomile
1 tsp loose passionflower
1 tsp loose rose petals
1 1/2 cups oat milk
1 tbsp raw honey
1/8 tsp vanilla extract
Optional, for color: 1/4 tsp beet, hibiscus or dragonfruit powder
Method
Add chamomile, passionflower, rose and oat milk to a pan and bring to a simmer. Cut off heat and let steep, covered, 5-10 mins.
Strain and stir in raw honey, vanilla and (optional) beet / hibiscus / dragonfruit powder. Drink as is or whip in a blender for more froth (also helps the color powder break up). Sip. Chill.
